I am not a Newyorker, never lived there but have had the opportunity to visit, both for pleasure and work, many times - it is a city that captivates me. In true appreciation of the wonderful city of New York and its people, today I would like to share some images from the city that never sleeps, as well as two posts that were written while in New York and with a New York state of mind.
I hope you enjoy two of my New York moments:
To be or not to be...is not the question
“One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years” Thomas Wolfe
"Ideas matter in New York. I am certain that more conversations in New York are about ideas than anywhere else. Not just vague theories, but ideas that New Yorkers have the will, and the clout, to do something about. " David Frost
What is your New York moment?
Hi OJ. This is a beautiful post, with beautiful photos. Thank you so much! I have never been to New York...just never had the opportunity, but would love to visit someday. And yes, we all remember.....
ReplyDeleteI grew up there, so I have lots of N.Y. moments. Indeed, the city is enthralling. I've had a love/hate sort of relationship with it, because the inner city is not the same N.Y tourists see. But, I sure can't deny its wonders, its nights, its museums, theatres and overall excitement.
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos and quotes. A great tribute to the Apple.
I remember! Lovely tribute post! stopping by from SITS =)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a NY moment, but would so love to!I love your quotes!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, moving post. The photographs and the quotes are wonderful. New York is such a fascinating and marvellous city, I would truly love to go there some day.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of NYC, I think of culture, shopping, food, and fun. It truly is the city that never sleeps.
ReplyDeleteToday, on the ninth anniversary of 9/11, I pray for the families who lost loved ones. May they find comfort and peace in their memories.
By the way, the last image gave me goosebumps. I can still recall rescue workers climbing to their deaths to help others. I will never forget.
Beautiful post.
I totally agree with what you said, "We all have our own versions of "first class" or something like that in your earlier post. You really captured the feeling and experience of being a New York. I love New York and live here so I have many special moments. Of 9/11 it's mostly of feeling confused, stunned and helpless walking across the Brooklyn Bridge in total silence with thousands of others feeling the same way. We must never forget.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful, OJ. The Thomas Wolfe quote particularly resonated with me.
ReplyDeletea beautiful dream if I can go to NY
