Hermosillo, Mexico; December 27, 2009.
It was a nice Sunday after a great Saturday night with my girlfriends and cousins. The weather was perfect for December and it was a good day to stay home. The grill was already set for cooking, so my love didn't hesitate to start the fire and prepare his wonderful ribs - just for the two of us. Table was set, music was on, wine was flowing.
There we were, wearing our official sunday outfits (PJ's) and hairdos (bed hair), drinking a great glass of red and eating like nobody was judging... oh, wait: NOBODY was judging!. Sudenly, the door bell rang. Who can it be knocking on my door? I wondered silently. And there they were: our dear friend and her brand new British husband. An unexpected yet nicely surprising visit. Excusing our dress code, they joined for wine, food and conversation about, well, pretty much everything and anything. The perfect way to meet my ladybug's husband!
It was one of those things where you feel right eventhough you are not looking at your best; they were nice and warm and especially, he was so delighted with our Mexican way of living, with our sunsets and food, that was contagious. He couldn't believe the fact that you can just stop by at a friend's house and be welcomed with open arms, no 7 day notice required. They stayed until we couldn't laugh anymore, he sang Mexican songs, he wore silly hats (we all did actually). We learned what an Englishman gentleman really is: a great guy in love, ready to experience and to enjoy what life has to offer; we also confirmed that good friends are forever; and that good things happen, even in your worst hair day.
A multicultural, non pretentious view of the things learned so far and daily events, sometimes anonymous, that mark our path...only if we dare to have a fresh start. ///Una vista multicultural y sin pretenciones de las cosas aprendidas hasta ahora y de los eventos cotidianos, a veces anonimos, que marcan el camino...solo si nos atrevemos a empezar de cero.

"good things happen, even in your worst hair day."
ReplyDeleteHow I so want to believe that this is true...
:-)
Great post!
Erm, probably a bit late for this, but I loved reading your posting about that great evening we all shared together. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. You and your man really know how to entertain guests. I hope we can have a repeat with some Pimms in the near future.
ReplyDeleteThanks again.
