Requiem for a friend...a Magpie Tale

Sad notes floating around, dark elegant tones

Long chords…vibrating and profound.

Steps sounding firmly yet fading, walking away

Along with the wet shadow of our tears,

A bitter feeling of emptiness only filled by

The intensity of your memory left behind.

You decided when…you determined how

Your spirit was grand, hence your departure

honoring your character and equally grand

No pity...no suffering…no need for goodbyes.

Crossing other fields now you are

With that legendary attitude

The head up, your sway and style.

Marking other yards…touching other hearts.

Don’t be afraid, never look back…do not hesitate

Little by little we are going to be fine.

This is the end of your time with us

But certainly not your end…just a new start.

For my one and only Verdell, our beloved friend for almost 12 years. May 10, 1999 - January 13, 2011

  4. I know your pain. Verdell was a loyal, faithful companion. And so cute too. I know you'll miss him. And I think it's true too, that he walks in different paths now.

  5. OJ---I am so sorry for your loss. But where Verdell is now, he is getting treats many times a day (and doesn't gain any weight from them), he gets to chase bunnies and squirrels and gets to catch them (after all, this is heaven for dogs, not heaven for rabbits and squirrels), and there are many hands to pet him and many laps for him to snuggle into. And there are many canine friends---the loved ones we've lost before Verdell---that were waiting to greet him.

    Again, I'm so sorry...

  7. oh no.... Verdell passed!!!! :(((((((( no.....

(I needed to take time to breath)

I found myself across the table from a psychic medium on Sunday. Her name was Ivory. She told me many amazing things... she confirmed that my son is not gone. I know this in my heart that this is true but I love hearing from him.

The one thing that stood out the strongest was when she asked me if I buried my son with a shirt. "There is a shirt, you have a shirt of his that you wear. But...there is another shirt. Did you bury him with a shirt?" She asked with such question, that I knew it didn't make sense to her.

My son's ashes are wrapped in his son's shirt. The shirt he wore the last time he saw his father alive. (tears)

at the end of the reading, she told me that he is always near me... and that he is with his dog.

How comforting that was to hear.....

    Verdell will wait for you.

  9. Oh my dear one, my heart aches for you. Your Verdell reminds me of my Tasha. Special creatures that accompany our lives never leave, they just claim a special place in us.

Sorry for your loss but that was a beautiful tribute.

  10. This simply breaks my heart -- it's simply lovely and an achingly beautiful tribute.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Having lost my furry friends in the past, I know it is a special, deep pain and sadness and my heart breaks for you.

  11. So beautifully written. I'm sorry to hear about Verdell. Pets are such remarkable family members. Each one touches our hearts in different ways.

  12. Olga:

  13. OJ, I'm so sorry to hear this! As you know, I just went through a similar loss...my Tiger-Gal...almost 14 years old. I do miss her and many times think I hear her in the house...flopping on her blanket/bed, letting out one of her heavy sighs when she was all settled....I'm sending you hugs...You know you can e-mail me, too, if you'd like to. xoxo
